Atlanta Community Food Bank Helps Families in Need
According to the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB), it is a sad reality that more than 50 percent of people who receive food assistance also use at least three other coping strategies in order to not go hungry. These strategies include purchasing less healthy but less expensive foods, relying on family and friends for food or money and watering down food and drinks.
The ACFB distributes more than 60 million pounds of food and groceries each year. This food goes to over 600 nonprofit partner agencies of the ACFB that serve families and individuals throughout the Georgia area.
But the food bank does more than just provide food; it educates the entire Georgia community through classes and activities. The ACFB hosts cooking classes, food fights, fashion shows, runs, festivals and other events that all work to provide support for the food bank and its mission.
Since our southeastern region office opened in 2005, JES Holdings and its family of companies have joined the ACFB in its fight to end hunger by volunteering time and offering donations. Since JES Holdings is centered on the ideal of providing affordable and quality housing, we are passionate about supporting a cause that helps give those in need a better quality of life.
